The Rosary is not the only Catholic devotion that lends itself to reflection upon the sorrow and sufferings of a mother following pregnancy and infant loss. The Stations of the Cross are also a lovely meditation that when taken through the eyes of Mary, Mother of Jesus, can bring us closer to Christ’s sufferings as we process and heal in our own journey.

If you are interested in diving further into the Staions of the Cross, my friend Aleesa put together a stunning set of Stations of the Cross meditations based on the ancient hymn, Sabat Mater. (The stations of the cross are also included in Journey in Love, previously reviewed here.)
The book combines the traditional meditation with beautiful images and incorporates the ancient hymn Stabat Mater in both English and Latin. She did all of the artwork inside of the book and it is simply stunning! There are also blank pages in the back of the book to add prayer intentions or jot your own meditations.
It’s not designed specifically for pregnancy and infant loss, but as it approaches the death of Christ through the eyes of his mother, it is uniquely linked and relevant.
I believe it is only through bringing pregnancy and infant loss into the rest of our lives, especially our spiritual lives, that we can truly begin to take steps towards healing.
