During Advent, we enter into a period of waiting. Waiting for the birth of our savior. Starting in darkness, with an unlit wreath, we take time to pause before we celebrate.
Each week we light a new candle. The anticipation builds as we move closer to one of the most celebrated days of the year.
Yet along the way, we struggle at times. We forget the Advent wreath or the Jesse Tree for a night. We enter the festive Christmas spirit early. Yet we recommit to get back on track. We have grace with ourselves not to beat ourselves up too much.
Oh, but grief- Rarely are we patient with ourselves when it comes to grief!
We want to pretend it didn’t happen, we want to never forget. One minute we want a new baby, the next we can never imagine another baby. Waiting seems impossible. We rarely have grace with ourselves to have a misstep along the way.
Friend, I do not believe when it comes to grief there is such a thing as a mis step. Your steps are your steps. Life following loss is hard. Pregnancy following loss is even harder.
When you find yourself feeling pulled off track, I want to challenge you to see those feelings of disequilibrium- being pulled between extremes- as a gift, much like Advent is. A gentle calling of the Holy Spirit on your heart to re orient towards Christ.
An opportunity to step into a new experience of joy.
Last year during Advent, I put together a devotional aimed at pregnancy after loss. This ebook contains brief reflections for each of the Advent candles- Hope, Faith, Joy, & Peace, along with some practical tips for not just surviving, but THRIVING during your pregnancy after miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.
The sorta bad news is that this year the title is only available for ONE WEEK through the Catholic Mom Bundle Advent Sale! Starting today, Monday, November 18th through Friday, November 22nd.
The super awesome news is that selling the title as part of the bundle gives you access in plenty of time to think about how you will best use the resource AND a ton of other resources to nurture your faith and family during this important liturgical season.
